Folders in Brand Wings are curated groupings of marketing tools, such as Assets, Templates, Email Campaigns, and Products.  With our latest release, you can now define an image and description for each folder you create.  In this article we will review the steps to upload folder images and set descriptions.


1) In the Brand Wings admin, navigate to Portal-->Folders

2) To manage an existing folder, click (or tap) the folder, then the gear icon.  To create a new folder, use the New button.

3) The folder detail window opens:

In this settings area, you can type in the name and description.  For the image, you can either drag/drop the image to the image area, or click on the image area to be prompted to located the image.  When done, click save.


In the portal, you will now see the folder use the image and description you have set:

Brand Wings allows you to create an unlimited number of portal designs to give your various partners and sales teams an optimal, on-brand experience in your Portal.  We recently overhauled the portal designer to make it even easier to create beautiful and engaging portal designs.  Let's take a quick look at the new designer.


Start by logging into the Brand Wings admin web application and navigating to Portal, then Theme Design.  In the Layout tab, you can either select a layout to edit or create a new layout.

You'll notice a block on the design area on the left that says "Content Container".  This is where Brand Wings will inject the content for the page.  For example, if the layout is being used to show the details about an Asset, the Content Container is where the actual asset details will be displayed.


The new editor allows you to drag and drop different types of widgets from the panel on the right to the design area on the left.  Options include:

  • Columns: Add a single row of 1 or more columns
  • Button: A clickable button that will redirect the user to a URL or page that you define
  • Divider: Adds a single horizontal line
  • Heading: Create Header text
  • HTML: Add custom HTML to the design.  This is helpful for widget scripts provided by 3rd party services that you want to add to the portal.
  • Image: Allows you to upload and add an image to the design.  As a bonus, this image will be saved in your library and can be reused on any other portal design or email notification
  • Text: Create stylized text
  • Objects: Adds a Brand Wings specific object, such as an image of an Asset or Template that you have defined.  Keep reading below to learn more about this...

When you drag a Brand Wings Object onto the design surface, you are presented with multiple options in the Content area on the right.  Select the type of object you want to use:

  • Brand Logo: The logo for your brand or company
  • Sales Team Logo: The logo for your sales logo.  Depending on which partner the sales user belongs to, the logo will dynamically change for her.  If the sales user is on a direct sales team, the Brand logo will display.
  • Asset, Content Page, Product, or Template: Shows the image for the marketing tool.  You can select which item to show and its size.  The image will be automatically linked, so when a user clicks on the image he will be redirected to its detail page.
  • Notification Tool: Shows a bell shaped icon indicating if the sales user has any pending notifications to read.
  • Menu: Add a navigation menu to the design. With the menu object you can can place the menu and define which menu should appear.

A Theme in Brand Wings represents the style, layout, and navigation menus for a portal.  Last month we added the ability to associate a sales team (direct sales, reseller, distributor, franchise, etc.) with a specific Theme.  This opened the door to further enhance and customize the user experience you are providing to the people that sell your products and services.  This also adds a co-branding personalization of your portal with those teams.  Adding this ability also made it clear to us that we needed to provide a way to quickly duplicate a Theme you have already created so that you can have an easy starting point to create a new "Theme" if you have a new sales team (reseller, distributor, franchise, etc.) or make changes to an existing Theme.

To duplicate a Theme, follow these easy steps:


  1. In the Admin area, go to Portal--> Themes
  2. Click (or tap) the Duplicate Theme icon
  3. Enter a name for the new Theme
  4. Click Save


Brand Wings will take a few moments to duplicate all aspects of the theme under the new name.

Brand Wings has supported Assets in a number of native formats, including PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and raster images.  With our release today, true video streaming capabilities have been added to the platform.  


HLS, or HTTP Live Streaming, is the protocol that is used.  One key advantage of this approach is that any video you upload to Brand Wings will be processed into multiple sizes.  Depending on the screen size (mobile, laptop, etc.) and bandwidth of the device your sales team users on are when using your portal, the optimal version of the video will be served to them.  In addition, a highly optimized version of your video in MP4 format is created for when a sales person needs to download the video.


Getting started is easy with these 4 simple steps:

  1. Create a new asset and select your video file as the asset file.  All major video file formats are supported. 
  2. Be patient while Brand Wings processes the video.  This can take a few minutes or more, depending on the size of your video.  While the video is being processed, a message will display in the video player stating that it is processing.
  3. When the video is finished processing, Brand Wings will automatically update the image for the video, which appears in the portal and in the administrative application.  Other meta data, such as the dimensions, file size, and duration, are also updated.
  4. You can now use the video like any other asset in Brand Wings.  In the portal, both email delivery and download are supported for your sales users.

The Brand Wings page designer allows you to visually design themes and pages for your sales portal.  We've recently introduced 4 new widgets to our designer to create new opportunities for you to enhance the user experience.


To use utilize a widget, open the page designer for a Theme Layout or a Content Page.  Click the gray plus button to add the widget to the section of the page you want to add the widget:

We've added four new widgets:

  • Partner Logo: Will display the logo of the partner for the user that is logged in.  With this widget, you can have one Theme that dynamically supports any number of partners by displaying the correct logo for each user.
  • Brand Logo: Displays your logo.  The advantage of using a Widget, as opposed to simply uploading your brand's logo, is that the logo is managed centrally.  You can change your brand's logo in the General Settings area in the Brand Wings admin.  If this logo is updated, any Content Pages or Themes using the Brand Logo Widget will automatically update to the new logo version.
  • HTML Snippet: This allows you to paste in HTML.  Typically this will come another web application you are using.  Examples include social media content or Loom videos.
  • IFrame: You can display a page from another site by entering or pasting in the URL of that page.  


After adding the widget, double click on it to manage the details.  You will be able to set the size in addition to other important information such as the HTML or the iFrame target URL.

The Brand Wings update on June 8, 2021 introduced two important tools to enhance the channel partner experience in the portal.  In this blog article we will briefly explore both.

Channel Partner Specific Themes

A Theme in Brand Wings controls the "look and feel" of the portal.  This includes layouts, navigation menus, typography, color palettes, and more.  Brand Wings allows you to define as many Themes as you would like, however, only one could be active at a time up until now.  With this latest release, you can now assign a specific Theme to a specific channel partner.  Themes can be assigned to multiple channel partners as well.  A best practice is to create a default Theme for most of your channel partners, and specific Themes for your largest partners.

Enabling this feature is very simple.  After creating the theme, edit the channel partner(s) you would like to use the Theme, select the Theme, and click the Save button.  If no Theme is selected, the default Theme for the portal will be used.

Channel Partner Permissions

Brand Wings' marketing tools, such as Assets, Templates, Pages, and Products, currently have the ability to be secured by a Role assigned at the channel partner user level.  Since you can define as many Roles as needed, you can easily control which types of users can utilize certain tools.


With our latest release, we have introduced a complementary set of permissions that also allow you to control access to marketing tools at the partner level.  For example, if you have a channel partner that does not sell one of your products or services, you can now quickly disallow any marketing tools related to that product to that specific channel partner.  


You can find these new permissions in the Permissions tab of a marketing tool, next to the Roles permissions that already existed:

You can combine Role and Partner based permissions for granular control over which users are able to access the marketing tool.
